Although natural stone veneer comes in thin or thick, also refered to as building veneer, we typically use the thin veneer. By using a built in fireplace and thin veneer, you can achieve the look of a full stone fireplace - at a reduced cost and weight and be more efficient than a traditional fireplace. Thin veneers can be used for many, many other projects like foundations, walls, entryways and porches. Generally, veneer is divided into 4 different types: Mosaic/Random, Squared/Rectangualar, Ledgestone and Ashlar. Each style has it's own personality and create very different feelings for the projects. Mixing and matching of colors and styles is definitely allowed! There is no right or wrong answer!
